Talking House may sell itself

If houses could talk, could they sell themselves?
By ROSELLE ZAYAS - BUSINESS EDITOR

With a Talking House transmitter, they could come close. The transmitter - manufactured by ActRadio of Fond du Lac, Wis. - allows home shoppers to listen to real estate listing information on the AM dial of their car radio from up 300 feet away from a home. For people who aren't ready to talk to a real estate agent about buying a home, the Talking House provides more information than a piece of paper.

"It would be the same as having a Real Estate Agent outside your house," said Jim Browning, an agent with Realty Executives Westcoast in Punta Gorda, who may be the only real estate agent to use the Talking House device.

Browning started using the transmitter as a means of being compet-itive.

"I wanted something that was up on everybody else," he said.

So far, two homes had a Talking House sign - one has already sold.

With the Talking House, Browning provides potential buyers with information about his listing, from the number of bedrooms and bathrooms to its proximity of schools - trying to answer questions.

"I give them a little bit of a picture in their minds," he said.
